Wisconsin voting guide

Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3. Here’s what you need to vote in Wisconsin.

Check Your Registration

Even if you voted last time, check that you’re still registered. Check your registration

  • Register online or by mail by Wed., Oct. 14.
  • Register in person at your clerk's office by Fri., Oct. 30.
  • Register at your polling place on Election Day by Tues., Nov. 3.

Missed it? You can register and vote on Election Day at your polling place. Bring proof of where you live.

Key Dates

  • Last day to register online (11:59 p.m.) or by mail (postmarked)
  • In-person absentee (early) voting may begin; dates vary by municipality
  • Deadline (5 p.m.) to request an absentee ballot by mail, online, email or fax
  • Last day (5 p.m.) to register in person at your municipal clerk's office
  • Last possible day for in-person absentee voting (many places end earlier)
  • Election Day: polls open 7 a.m.–8 p.m.; absentee ballots must be received by 8 p.m.; same-day registration at polls
  • Deadline (4 p.m.) for provisional voters to bring ID or missing info to the clerk
  • Deadline for county canvass results to reach the Wisconsin Elections Commission
  • Last day for the Wisconsin Elections Commission to certify results

    Problem with your ballot? Your clerk may send your ballot back for you to fix if there is time before Election Day. Track your ballot
  • Vote on Election Day, Tues., Nov. 3, 7 a.m.–8 p.m. local time. Find your polling place. Check the official ID rules so you bring the right ID.
  • Have a past conviction?
    • You can't vote while serving a felony sentence, including probation, parole or extended supervision.
    • Your right to vote comes back once your full sentence is done.
    • You then need to register again.

Says he will protect voting rights and push for nonpartisan redistricting at every level of government. Source

Signed a 2020 brief backing a Texas lawsuit to overturn the presidential results in other states and said he would have rejected Wisconsin's 2020 electoral votes if Congress had voted on them. In 2026 said most clerks do good work but 'a couple clerks... have fallen down on the job.' Source

As a legislator, co-authored a bill to close the Lincoln Hills and Copper Lake youth prisons and replace them with smaller facilities closer to home. Says local governments need funding for well-trained police and fire departments. Source

Says he will support police with tools and training, 'end soft-on-crime policies,' hold prosecutors accountable, and oppose early release of people convicted of violent and sex crimes. Source

Has said he voted for Wisconsin's current law allowing abortion up to about 20 weeks and 'as governor I will uphold it.' Proposes upfront health care price disclosure, direct primary care, Medicaid fraud safeguards, rules for pharmacy benefit managers, and legal medical marijuana. Source

Economy, taxes & cost of living

David Crowley Democratic

Proposes capping family child care costs at 7% of income and lowering property taxes through changes to how local governments are funded. Led the 2023 state law (Act 12) that raised shared revenue for local governments and allowed a Milwaukee County sales tax increase. Source

Tom Tiffany Republican

Proposes a 10% income tax cut for families earning under $150,000, no state tax on tips and overtime, property tax cuts and returning the state surplus. Has called President Trump's tariffs 'very strategic, very targeted.' Source

Ballot measures

  • Question 1: Partial veto (constitutional amendment). Would bar the governor from using the partial (line-item) veto to create or raise any tax or fee. Follows Gov. Evers' 2023 veto that raised school revenue limits by $325 a year for 400 years, which the state Supreme Court upheld in 2025.
    Yes means the governor could not use the partial veto to create or increase a tax or fee.
    No means the governor keeps current partial veto power, including over tax and fee provisions.
  • Question 2: Places of worship during emergencies (constitutional amendment). Would bar the state and local governments from closing places of worship or banning gatherings in them during a declared emergency, including a public health emergency.
    Yes means government could not close or ban gatherings at places of worship during emergencies.
    No means government keeps its current power to limit gatherings at places of worship during emergencies.
  • Question 3: Government discrimination and preferential treatment (constitutional amendment). Would add a section to the state constitution barring state and local government from discriminating against, or giving preferential treatment to, any person or group based on race, sex, color, ethnicity or national origin in public jobs, public education, public contracting or public administration.
    Yes means the constitution would ban government programs that give preference based on race, sex, color, ethnicity or national origin in public jobs, schools, contracts and administration.
    No means no new constitutional ban; current state and federal law continues to govern these programs.

  • Apply to be a poll worker and support free and fair elections.
  • Watch the count. Take a training to learn how to observe the polls.
